Last Updated: March 14th.

COVID-19 is increasingly having an impact on the global community and is a rapidly evolving issue.

GESA suggests that everyone be vigilant with regards to hygiene & for training we will be enforcing the following:-

  • Players will be asked to no longer shake hands at the sessions or games. Instead a foot tap will be used.

  • All players MUST have their own labeled water bottle.

  •  Hand sanitizer will be available for players & is to be used before training commences.

  • It is also asked that players are to remain at home if they are experiencing any flu like symptoms. Likewise if a player presents at training displaying these symptoms we will ask that they please return home.

  •  We ask that parents do not enter the training field. It is preferable that you remain in your vehicle to watch training.

  • We ask if you or any family members have been in contact with anyone at risk to refrain from training and follow the official guidelines, including any quarantine requirements.

Further advice and information about the coronavirus is available on the Queensland Health website:…/217/838/novel-coronav…

If regular training needs to be postponed it will be rescheduled at a later date.

We encourage all participants to refer to the dedicated COVID-19 website that has been created by the Australian Institute of Sport, and contains specific advice on the coronavirus relevant to sport.

We also recommend that all participants follow the Australian Government’s guidelines as to how to reduce the risk of contracting coronavirus, including using thorough handwashing techniques and anti-bacterial hand gels.

Please encourage participants to reassess how they greet people on a day-to-day basis, and how they can minimise contact with other participants in and around the football field.

FFA, Football QLD and GESA will continue to monitor the development of the coronavirus and provide additional information as it becomes available

We appreciate your support in managing this and supporting player awareness of the additional need for strong health and hygiene practices.

We will make decisions on upcoming trips in the coming weeks as we receive updated information.

Kind Regards
